About Pinergy

Pinergy launched in 2013, best known for smart pay-as-you-go electricity, and supplies electricity only, not gas. It reported about 10,000 business customers when Sojitz, the Japanese trading group, agreed to buy a majority stake in December 2024. Pinergy’s management team stayed in place after the sale.

Pinergy disclosed a 100% renewable fuel mix for 2024. Business customers manage their accounts through Pinergy’s business portal. We compare its electricity prices for SME and large users.

How switching works

Switching to Pinergy

  1. 1 Send us a recent bill. From your current supplier, with your MPRN or GPRN.
  2. 2 We get a Pinergy price for your usage and compare it with Energia, SSE Airtricity, Flogas, Electric Ireland and Yuno Energy.
  3. 3 Sign digitally. We send the agreement to sign online.
  4. 4 Pinergy registers the switch. Your old supplier sends a closing bill based on a meter read on the switch date.

Switching away from Pinergy

  1. 1 Check your end date. Your Pinergy contract sets out the end date and any notice period.
  2. 2 We compare the market and time your new contract to start when the old one finishes.
  3. 3 Sign digitally. We handle the paperwork with your new supplier.
  4. 4 Pinergy sends a closing bill. Your supply doesn’t stop at any point.

Check the terms of your Pinergy contract first, as fixed-price contracts can carry an early exit fee. We usually line up your switch for the end date.

No. Your MPRN and GPRN belong to your meter, not your supplier, so they stay the same.

Pinergy doesn’t publish a single business price list. Your rate depends on your meter type, how much you use, your connection and when you fix the price, and it moves with the wholesale market. Send us a recent bill and we’ll get you Pinergy’s current price alongside the other suppliers we compare.

No. Your online account is between you and your supplier, and we don’t use your login. To compare prices we only need a recent bill.

Pinergy disclosed a fuel mix of 100% renewable for 2024 in the CRU’s Fuel Mix Disclosure (published December 2025). Figures for 2025 are due around December 2026.

Once your contract is signed we send it to your new supplier for registration. If all the details are correct, your account is usually active within 4 weeks. Very large sites (LVMD) and some interval-metered accounts can take longer because ESB Networks needs a meter read.
