From a distillery, an office park and a Centra

Distillery★★★★★

“We are a distillery, where electricity is a large component of our costs. Cost.ie helped us to manage our Energy Bills during a difficult time in the market. They kept our bills as low as possible and offered savings advice outside of our unit rates.”

Milo Molloy
CFO – Connacht Whiskey
Office accommodation★★★★★

“We manage 30,000 sq ft of office accommodation across three separate buildings and found the maintenance of our commercial energy bills a consistent nuisance. We engaged Cost.ie who have since reduced both the cost of our bills and the amount of time spent dealing with suppliers. Overall we are thoroughly pleased with the Account Management service that Cost.ie have provided to us.”

GB
George Brady

Retail★★★★★

The lines on your bill, and the questions we get asked

Your MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number) is the 11-digit number starting with 10 on your electricity bill. Gas bills carry a 7-digit GPRN. Each identifies your meter, and it stays the same whichever supplier you use.

Distribution and Transmission Use of System charges pay for the electricity network, run by ESB Networks and EirGrid. They are approved by the CRU and passed through by every supplier, so they don’t change when you switch.

The Public Service Obligation levy is set each year by the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) and appears on every electricity bill in Ireland. It supports renewable and security-of-supply generation.

Carbon tax is a government charge on gas, set in the Budget. It applies whichever supplier you choose. We focus on the parts of the bill that can be negotiated, like the unit rate and standing charge.

No. Your electricity or gas keeps flowing through the same network. Only the supplier sending the bill changes, and we manage the registration with them.

Our service is free to you. We’re paid a commission by the supplier you choose, and it doesn’t change the price you’re quoted.

Yes. We check your current end date and line up your new contract to start when the old one finishes.

We compare Energia, SSE Airtricity, Flogas, Pinergy, Electric Ireland and Yuno Energy.
